Class attire 2017-2018

PLEASE NOTE – all of the following shoes/tights are required for class; this may differ slightly from the shoes/tights that may be needed for the annual performance.


Chalmette Pre (Ballet & Tap) Combo Class (Ages 18 months-2):

Leotard: Must Be a Solid black leotard Only.

Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #703

Ballet Shoes: So Danca #SD16 (canvas split sole/no string)

Tap Shoes: (Toddler Sizes 7-9) Bloch # S0350G tan taps.

Other – We highly recommend having their first name embroidered on the front of the leotard. NO skirts/shorts/tutus of any kind will be allowed. HAIR must always be worn in a bun.


Chalmette Beginner Combo Class (Age 3) & Covington Combo Class (Ages 18 months - 3):

Leotard: Must be a Solid black leotard Only. 

Tights: Danskin Pink #708 (convertible)

Ballet Shoes: So Danca #SD16 (canvas split sole/no string)

Tap Shoes: (Toddler Sizes 7-9) Bloch # S0350G tan taps. NO Jazz Shoes

Other – We highly recommend having their first name embroidered on the front of the leotard. NO skirts/shorts/tutus of any kind will be allowed. HAIR must always be worn in a bun.

Leotard: Must be a Solid black leotard Only.

Chalmette Beginner Combo Class VII (Ages 5-7) & Covington Combo Class ( Ages 4 -5):

Leotard: Any Colored leotard, Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #703

Ballet Shoes: So Danca #SD16 (canvas split sole/no string). 

Tap Shoes: Bloch # S0301 tan tap shoe lace up

Jazz Shoes: - Bloch #S0401 TAN super jazz shoe

Other – Dancer can wear black booty shorts or black leggings over their leotard for jazz & tap. HAIR must always be worn in a bun.


Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Jazz/Lyrical Technique & Progressions:

Leotard: Any solid colored leo.

No Tights. No tank tops. No basketball shorts. No sweat pants! No socks. No street clothes. You must be in dance attire.

Shoes: Block S0401 tan super jazz shoe.


Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Tap:

Any type of dance attire can be worn. Including leotards, tight bikatards, short tops with hot shorts or leggings, leotard with hot shorts or dance pants. No tank tops, No basketball shorts, No sweat pants! No tights or socks. No street clothes, you must be in dance attire.

Tights: Danskin Classic Light Toast #703 (child size) or #72 (Adult size).

Shoes: Bloch # S0301full sole string up taps: (Color does not matter for class)

Tap - General: Taps must fit! If you try to get your tap shoes a little bigger so you can get a few years out of them, the tap shoe will come off as they are tapping & defeats the technique of tapping. No heel taps or Mary Janes. School Uniforms are not appropriate dance apparel so don’t wear them.


ALL Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Ballet:

Leotard: Solid Black Leotard), Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #703 (Child) or #72 (Adult),

OPTIONAL – Black Georgette length skirt

Shoes: So Danca #SD16 (canvas split sole/no string); Hair MUST be worn in a Slick Bun

Pointe– Leotard: Solid Black Leotard, Tights: Danskin Ballet Pink #72.

Pointe Shoes: Everyone’s foot is different so I suggest trying several name brands of Pointe Shoes.

Do Not Order Pointe Shoes On Line. You must go into a store and be fitted for Pointe Shoes. You must have the elastic & the ribbons sewn on the inside of the Pointe shoe!

Ballet - General: No socks are to be worn with the ballet shoes. All ballet shoes must have elastic sewn on the inside of the ballet shoe to keep the shoe on for proper execution of the technique. Hair must be fastened securely out of the face & off of the neck in a slick bun. No Exceptions! No hot shorts, tank tops, bras or sports bras are to be worn under or over your ballet attire. You will be asked to take it off if worn. Excessive dress attire (jewelry, over sized t-shirts, baggy shorts or sweat pants) is not allowed for both safety and aesthetic reasons.


Intermediate & Advanced Modern:

Solid black leotard (no colored trim),

NO TIGHTS,

Barefoot. Hair in a slick back bun


Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Hip-Hop:

Any type of dancewear may be worn for this class.

Wear clothes that allow you to move freely.

Shoes: tennis shoes are required. No Sperry’s, no socks, no jazz shoes, not barefoot – must wear tennis shoes.


Musical Theatre:

Any Colored Leotard.

No Tights.

 No Shoes.


Tumbling:

Solid Black Biketard.

No Tights.

No Shoes.
